History

The foundation of the Ghana Naturopathic Medical Training Initiative can be traced back to Monday, 7th February 2022, at the premises of Dadycos Health Services. This significant step was taken under the auspices of the Ghana Naturopathic Medical Association, led by distinguished practitioners, Dr. Cosmos Stephen Kwabena Adjei and Dr. Samson Osei Kwame Nkrumah Adasah.

The initiative was established with the primary aim of equipping members of the association particularly those already practicing under experienced practitioners with deeper knowledge and professional competence in naturopathic medical practice. This marked the beginning of a structured effort to formalize and enhance training within the field.

Participants enrolled in the program attended lectures twice a week over a period of six months, during which they received intensive theoretical and practical instruction. At the end of the training period, students underwent examinations organized by a designated committee. Successful participants were awarded Participation Testimonials and Certificates, recognizing their commitment and progress in naturopathic medical education.

As part of the training development, Nana Kwadwo Asante Mensah I played a key role by delivering lectures in Anatomy and Physiology, strengthening the scientific foundation of the students.

A major milestone was reached in January 2025, when the initiative evolved from a training program into a fully recognized institution known as the Naturopathic Medical Training School (under the Naturopathic Medical Center). This transition marked a new phase of growth and institutionalization.
During the 53rd Anniversary celebration of the Ghana Naturopathic Medical Association in 2025, three additional lecturers, Prof. Peter Kwaku Amo, Benedicta Okumoh and Newton Kwaku Agbadzi Carlson were officially introduced to support the academic expansion of the school.

The institution achieved another significant milestone on 7th April 2026, when it was formally registered with the Registrar General’s Department in Ghana. This registration provided legal recognition and strengthened its position as a credible center for naturopathic medical education.

From its humble beginnings in 2022 as a training initiative, the institution has grown into a structured and recognized training school dedicated to advancing naturopathic medical practice in Ghana. Through committed leadership, continuous development, and institutional support, it continues to play a vital role in training and empowering practitioners in the field.
